James Rebanks, Friday 6th November, 7.30pm
St George’s Church, Nailsworth
|We’re delighted to say that our event with James Rebanks and Benedict Macdonald next week has now sold out. Sadly there is no reserve list & there will be no walk up tickets available on the night. We are videoing their discussion and will make that available online as soon as we can.|
Interviewer – Benedict Macdonald, author of ‘Rebirding’ and ‘Orchard’
James Rebanks’ grandfather taught him to work the land the old way. Their family farm in the Lake District was part of an ancient landscape: a patchwork of crops and meadows, of pastures grazed with livestock, hedgerows teeming with wildlife. Yet when James inherited the farm, it was barely recognisable – empty fields, stone barns had crumbled and the skies emptied of birds.
This is a rare opportunity to hear James explain how his thinking has developed – the theme of his new book, “English Pastoral’ – and why he is optimistic for the future.
